Muir Woods Redwoods Forest Tour

muir woods tour

What's so special about a redwood forest? With life spans exceeding 2,000 years, redwoods are among the oldest living things on the planet—and at 30 stories, among the tallest. They're inexpressibly beautiful. And peaceful.

So we offer an unhurried visit there as part of our Everybody's Favorite City tour. Also as part of our Marin, the Beautiful tour, which lets you experience a man-made wonder by Frank Lloyd Wright and much more of the county's nature attractions.

Recent clients have asked to see ancient redwoods and visit the Wine Country on the same day. So we're accommodating that request by offering a Redwoods, then Wine tour: We travel to Muir Woods first, in order to catch the best light and beat the crowd. After an hour or so appreciating the forest, we drive about 90 minutes to premium grape-growing regions further north (the Sonoma, Napa or Russian River Valleys).

You decide that you'd prefer lunch quickly from a gourmet deli or at leisure at a memorable restaurant. Our afternoon is optimized by tasting wonderful wines at 3-4 beautiful wineries and exploring the mysteries of viticulture, while enjoying spectacular scenery.

Why Tour with Us?

Because most other companies get you there at the most crowded time of the day and give you effectively 45 minutes to actually be in the trees. And if you're thinking "we'll just rent a car and drive there ourselves," be aware that sometimes, especially on weekends, the parking lots fill up early and you may end up parking a mile away from the entrance. That won't make for a relaxed appreciation of these natural wonders. We take you right up to the entrance.

There are so many reasons why we're your best choice!

Of course, if you're really into redwoods, there's an even larger redwood forest south of San Francisco, near San Jose: Big Basin State Park. And to that hiking opportunity, we can add a visit to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk or nearby charming coastal towns like Half Moon Bay.

"We loved everything about it."

"I still can't get over how you treated us. It was really like we were your long lost best friends or cousins who came to San Francisco for the day. Even though you must do this every day your enthusiasm for the wonderful city of San Francisco was with you every step of the way. We loved everything about it. The murals, the Mission and Muir Woods were our favorites. But the Districts, Legion of Honor, your history lessons and the Chinese Fortune Cookie Factory were great. You do an incredible tour: no one in town can come close to what you offer to the lucky visitor who finds out about you."
