A FREQUENT ITINERARY
Ascending the hill to enter Matanzas Creek winery under its 200-year-old oaks, you know your day is going to be special. Your tour begins overlooking their two-acre lavender garden and ends with a tasting of their exceptional wines. Moving through the dappled landscape of northern Sonoma Valley, we have many options for lunch: surrounded by vineyards in Kenwood or at the Village Market in quaint Glen Ellen.

Or consider the town of Sonoma, the county seat where the new country of Mexico created a beautifully shaded, eight-acre plaza, today surrounded by the old Spanish church, a classic movie house and mosaic of shops and restaurants. After lunch you may be in the mood for a tasting of artisanal olive oils. But we're surely not done with wine tasting: at Arrowood (in their picturesque Victorian farmhouse);  Artesa (an ultramodern facility built inside a hill, with eclectic works by its former artist-in-residence); Bartholomew Park (part of the original estate of Hungarian Agoston Haraszthy, father of California wine-making); Gloria Ferrer (producers of Spanish-style sparkling wines)—all have spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Or you may prefer to try Imagery Estate, where un-usual varietals and original art are featured.

Whichever wineries you've chosen, there's no doubt that by day's end Sonoma will have proven that while courted less than her more famous sister, she remains a belle.

Testimonial

"Great tour"...Jesse provided a relaxing, stress-free day for us. He was very knowledgeable about the different wineries and was able to alter our tour based upon our special requests. He allowed us to set the pace, and didn't make us feel rushed to get an agenda completed. The ride was clean and comfortable. The wineries were interesting and fun. And Jesse was conversational and entertaining…”
